Coordinator of Career Advising & Professional Development

The Coordinator of Career Advising & Professional Development provides direct career advising, career education, mentoring, and professional development support to Roosevelt University students. The coordinator maintains an active advising caseload, manages the Professional Mentoring Program (PMP) and day-to-day administration of the People Grove platform, and serves as the Office of Career Services' primary liaison to the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (CHESS).

Working collaboratively with Career Services staff, faculty, alumni, employers, mentors, and other University partners, the coordinator delivers student-facing programs and resources that help undergraduate and graduate students build professional skills, networks, and connections to career opportunities.

Location:

Chicago Campus, with scheduled support for the Schaumburg Campus as needed. The Coordinator of Career Advising & Professional Development will report to the Director of Career Services.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Required - A bachelor's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling or related field. A minimum of 5 years experience working in higher education administration, preferably in a career services or student support capacity. Proven ability to develop and deliver objectives of programs and services for the department. Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. A positive and professional demeanor is a must. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to work collaboratively across disciplinary and interdisciplinary lines, and to interact successfully with a diverse constituency of varying backgrounds. A self-starter who takes initiative, has an ability to work independently, highly developed organizational and leadership skills. Candidate must communicate and employ interpersonal actions that model responsible, accountable and ethical conducts. Demonstrated organizational, time management and interpersonal skills. Work on evenings and weekends as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, psychology, social sciences, communications, business, human resources, or a related field. Relevant professional experience in career services, higher education, student affairs, advising, mentoring, professional development, workforce development, or a related area. Experience working directly with college students or similar populations and providing advising, coaching, mentoring, career development, or related support. Experience developing or facilitating workshops, presentations, programs, or educational experiences.

Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, organizational, and time-management skills. Ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities and multiple priorities while working collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, employers, mentors, and other partners

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, organizational leadership, psychology, social sciences, business, or a related field. Experience providing career advising or career coaching in a college or university setting. Experience managing or supporting a professional mentoring program and delivering career education or professional development programming. Knowledge of the NACE Career Readiness Competencies.
