Position: Control System Engineer II (Project Engineer)

Novaspect, Inc., an Emerson Impact Partner, the global leader of automation systems and solutions, is currently offering an opportunity for a Control System Engineer II (Project Engineer II) to join our fast paced, customer oriented project engineering team.

The successful candidate will assist our Engineering and Sales teams in developing, delivering, maintaining, and optimizing state-of-the-art automation and advanced controls solutions for our automation and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) industrial customers.

Project Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work to support customers under the Project Management process by
  • Actively listening and communicating to accomplish customer’s objectives.
  • Providing timely and quality contribution to projects by:
  • Defining control system designs and documentation.
  • Reviewing control system designs with customer team.
  • Implementing medium complexity designs into the Delta

    V control system.
  • Performing internal and customer witnessed control system testing.
  • Developing project process simulation and tools.
  • Performing Operator training.
  • Control System equipment installation and startup.
  • Providing startup and commissioning customer site support.
  • Travelling to customer facilities for system configuration, commissioning, startup testing.
  • Developing solutions with customer-provided information, system design, remote access, backup system files, virtual systems, designing and testing solutions.
  • Ability to perform as an embedded engineer at a customer location.
  • Developing and delivering operator training.
Provide clear and frequent communications by
  • Providing timely communication to customers and project managers with attention to project timeline and quality.
  • Creating and delivering detailed project documentation.
  • Participating in project team meetings and customer reviews.
  • Leading resolution of requirements gaps, design issues, and quality concerns.
  • Independent customer interface, technical review of opportunities, system-generated reports, actionable recommendations.
  • Capturing leads for additional product or service opportunities.
Work as a team by
  • Working cooperatively with others, sharing knowledge, lessons learned, and participating in or leading team meetings and projects where solutions are developed, ideas are exchanged, and processes are improved.
  • Helping colleagues as they encounter situations.
  • Participating in and supporting the Novaspect’s technical access line (NTA).
  • Mentoring other Control System Engineers.
  • Ability to work independently as the primary technical interface for customer or sales team.

  • Representing Novaspect’s core behaviors, quality, customer service, and brand.
  • Developing advanced skills and knowledge in advanced process controls and PMO processes.
  • Actively participating in internal process improvement initiatives.
  • Complying with internal and customer safety programs.
  • Emphasizing Novaspect Core Behaviors and Lenses in daily activities and interactions.
Requirements Project Engineer Education, Skills, and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology field or technical work experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the control system engineering field.
  • 2 years of experience in Delta

    V (DCS) programming and/or system administration preferred.
  • Practical application of process controls standards (Emerson, Novaspect, Industry).
  • Advanced knowledge of internal development procedures and tools.
  • Certification and training in advanced process controls and Configuration.
  • Demonstrate excellence in core job responsibilities and competencies.
  • Seeks additional responsibilities, engages in opportunities to gain expertise and leadership in one or more disciplines within System Services.
  • Ability to maintain permanent employment in the United States.
Project Engineer

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs (i.e. Workstation and Laptop Computers)
  • Ability to work extended hours on a computer
  • Ability to work in a loud industrial environment
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
  • Bonus Potential: 5% of base salary
