A full-line industrial automation components distributor is seeking an Applications Engineer to join its team near Schaumburg, IL location. This organization specializes in automation and motion control technologies, including PLCs, motion controllers, industrial networking solutions, servo motors and drives, linear motion components, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

In this role, you will apply automation and networking solutions across a variety of industries such as printing and converting, packaging, machine tools, energy generation, and general industrial automation.

• Provide inside technical support to customers across all product lines
• Travel to customer sites for pre- and post-sales support, including project engineering meetings, live product demonstrations, system startups, and service calls
• Size, design, and quote motion control and industrial networking systems in collaboration with sales teams
• Perform in-house and on-site PLC and motion control programming for customer projects
• Utilize and support programming languages such as Python, Java, HTML5, Node-RED, C++, Co De Sys , and IEC 61131-3 (experience is a plus)
• Attend vendor-sponsored training programs to build expertise in automation, machine control, process control, networking, and IoT solutions
• Participate in scheduled internal meetings to review customer challenges, opportunities, and new product updates
• Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned

• Strong curiosity for how systems work and a desire to develop electro-mechanical expertise
• Hands-on experience with electrical engineering concepts and industrial implementations
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred
