Job Overview
GFT is seeking a Technical Agreement Specialist to join our Roadway Team in Schaumburg, IL. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at the District 1 IDOT office. The Office’s Transportation team leads projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity.
Responsibilities- Lead coordination of roadway plan drawings, quantities, and related costs for items of local participation, maintenance, and jurisdiction.
- Provide direction to Project Engineers and Staff Engineers regarding expected results.
- Analyze information and data to perform routine design tasks.
- Make independent decisions on engineering problems and methods, representing the organization in meetings to resolve key questions and coordinate work.
- Adhere to IDOT agreement policy and communicate policy to IDOT staff and public partners; understand and interpret engineering design plans and specifications.
- Work within a Microsoft computer environment.
- Manage workload and adapt to changes in project schedule, scope, or additional services.
- Minimum five years of related, in-field experience, including work directly with IDOT, the Illinois Tollway, Chicago DOT, Cook County Department of Transportation & Highways, or local counties and municipalities, and with federally funded projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a similar ABET‑accredited field.
- E.I.T. Certification.
- Strong technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively on multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Experience with railroad coordination and inspection of roadway/railroad work in the field (preferred).
- Experience in highway, drainage, construction inspection, track, traffic signal, and/or lighting (preferred).
- Illinois Driver’s License required.
- Professional Engineering license or similar experience.
- Background in preliminary engineering, plan development, or construction engineering.
Salary range: $85,000 - $125,000, dependent on experience and geographic location.
