PositionProduct Development Engineer – High Speed IO Connector
Responsibilities- Conceptualize, design, and develop cable assemblies and/or IO connector systems from initial proposal to successful tooling and product qualifications.
- Perform Design FMEA, tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability, FEA analysis, and risk analysis.
- Work with Marketing and the customer to define customer needs and functional performance requirements and assess technical risk.
- Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing disciplines (Stamping, Plating, Molding, Assembly) to optimize design for production processes.
- Lead product design reviews and verify accuracy of product drawings, ensuring proper use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Work with Materials Engineering to define metal and polymer material choices based on performance, pricing, and global sourcing.
- Present product concepts to customers early in the development cycle, interpret feedback, and incorporate revised requirements into the design.
- Define product, application, and packaging specifications, as well as verification and product qualification test plans.
- Manage the resolution of first‑article inspections and work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to ensure product transition to manufacturing.
- Interact with global associates during development and provide mentorship where appropriate.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
- 1–3 years of experience in high‑speed cable assembly and/or connector design preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Knowledge of signal‑integrity design preferred.
- Familiarity with industry standards a plus.
- Proficiency in Solid Works, FEA simulation software (ANSYS preferred), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles, and statistical engineering methods.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to direct the activity of others when needed.
- Excellent communication skills with global customers and internal stakeholders including management, marketing, sales, process engineering, test labs, and designers.
- Ability to prioritize work to meet objectives and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
