Test Technician

The Test Technician will troubleshoot electronic assemblies and systems to the component level, support test equipment repair, and collaborate closely with test engineers and customers to ensure product functionality meets requirements. This role involves hands-on work with electronic test instruments, analysis of technical documentation, and contribution to the overall product realization process in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Use test failure reports, schematics, datasheets, and other technical documentation to accurately troubleshoot assembly and system-level failures down to the component level so they can be repaired.
  • Collaborate with Test Engineers and customers to gain deeper knowledge of product functionality, especially when information is incomplete or not readily available.
  • Provide break/fix support for test equipment, ensuring that test systems remain operational and reliable.
  • Utilize appropriate electronic test tools and instruments, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analyzers, to perform diagnostics and verification.
  • Create, analyze, and verify documentation, programs, models, processes, or production-related materials as needed to support testing activities.
  • Demonstrate a basic, discipline-specific understanding of how testing activities support full product requirements and specifications.
  • Track bugs and defects identified during testing and troubleshooting, and contribute to developing effective solutions.
  • Work with hands-on electronic assemblies and systems, applying practical skills to support manufacturing and engineering teams.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement activities to expand technical skills and support career growth within the organization.

Essential Skills

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE).
  • At least 2 years of experience working with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and electronic documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic troubleshooting at the assembly or system level down to component level.
  • Ability to use test failure reports, datasheets, and other technical resources to diagnose issues.
  • Experience tracking bugs and defects and contributing to solutions.
  • Basic understanding of how testing and troubleshooting support overall product requirements and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to diagnostics and repair.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Any software programming experience is a plus.
  • Interest in diversifying technical skills and working in a hands-on environment.
  • Willingness to collaborate closely with test engineers and customers to resolve complex issues.
  • Motivation to grow within the company and advance through multiple levels of responsibility.
  • Ability to create, analyze, and verify documentation, programs, models, and processes related to testing and production.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Schaumburg, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
