ABM Industries is seeking an Ammonia Refrigeration Plant Engineer to support safe, reliable operation of industrial refrigeration systems within our Facility Services portfolio. Reporting to Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management, you will operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration equipment; perform preventive and corrective maintenance; respond to alarms; and support energy-efficient, code-compliant operations. You will document work, coordinate vendors, assist with capital and reliability projects, and champion ABM's culture of safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement across diverse client facilities.
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on compressors, condensers, evaporators, and controls
- Respond to system alarms, diagnose issues, and restore equipment to safe operation
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, IIAR, PSM/RMP, and site safety procedures
- Maintain logs, CMMS work orders, and documentation for inspections and audits
- Support energy efficiency, reliability improvements, and small capital projects
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and site operations during maintenance activities
- Participate in PSM/RMP activities, inspections, and emergency response drills
- Perform routine inspections, leak checks, and system performance monitoring
- Promote ABM's culture of safety, inclusion, teamwork, and continuous improvement
