Director of Engineering

This leader will oversee the development of advanced sensor products for domestic and international markets. The role requires someone who understands both sides of engineering leadership: developing technically strong products and connecting that work to customer needs, commercial opportunities, and business growth. The successful candidate will have directly led sensor development, managed multidisciplinary engineering teams, and worked with customers or business-development partners throughout the product lifecycle.

• Lead the strategy and execution of new sensor-product development.
• Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams across domestic and international locations.
• Oversee products incorporating sensor technology, embedded electronics, microcontrollers, and firmware.
• Establish technical priorities, development processes, and resource plans.
• Ensure programs meet performance, quality, cost, and timing expectations.
• Work directly with customers to understand requirements and translate them into product-development priorities.
• Partner with commercial, product, operations, and executive leaders to identify growth opportunities.
• Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing engineering talent.

• Director-level or senior engineering-management experience within sensor development.
• Direct experience developing sensor products, not solely integrating third-party sensors into another product.
• Experience leading electrical, embedded, firmware, mechanical, systems, or similarly multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience managing teams across multiple locations or countries.
• Strong understanding of the connection between engineering, customers, and business development.
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with technical and operational execution.
• Approximately 10 or more years of progressive engineering and product-development experience.
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
• Ability to work from the Chicago-area office three days per week.

• $200,000 to $250,000 base salary.
