Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning parks and recreation agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational programs, classes, and events as well as facilities, parks and open spaces! Our Cultural Arts Department is home to our outstanding theatre program which hosts various productions throughout the year.
JOB SUMMARYThe Stage Manager will collaborate with directors, designers, and technical teams to ensure a seamless and well-executed production. They will facilitate efficient and productive rehearsals, including blocking, cueing, and helping to supervise pickup and drop-off. The Stage Manager will oversee all technical elements, including lighting, sound, set changes, and special effects during performances. They will manage and motivate backstage crews, ensuring smooth transitions and quick problem‑solving during live performances.
They will act as a liaison between the director, cast, and production team, ensuring clear and effective communication, and will handle unforeseen challenges, troubleshoot technical issues, and adapt quickly to ensure a successful show.

QUALIFICATIONSThe preferred applicant will have proven experience as a stage manager in theatrical productions. They will have in-depth knowledge of technical aspects of theatre production. They will have strong organization and multitasking skills, and excellent communication and leadership abilities. The best applicants will have excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Experience working with children is a plus!
They must have a passion for the performing arts and dedication to the success of each production. Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
This is a part‑time position with varying hours depending on rehearsals and performance schedules, with primarily evening work. Rehearsals take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 – 8:30 pm. The candidate must also be available for auditions, callbacks, tech, and performances. Auditions are on September 9th and callbacks on September 10th, both from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. Tech is November 28th–December 3rd, with performances following on December 4th, 5th, and 6th.
Target hiring rate is between $18.00 – $19.00 per hour.
