Zurich North America is currently looking for a Senior Financial Reporting Consultant to support our Finance Accounting team performing accounting entries, analysis and reporting. This individual will work a hybrid schedule from our corporate headquarters in Schaumburg, IL or our Chicago, IL office.
To perform financial accounting relevant for IFRS, GAAP and Statutory reporting, ensuring that accounting processes and procedures are followed and completed to support and reinforce key business objectives. Will communicate and document financial statement impacts to management.
In This Role You Will Be Responsible For- Support various types of general and/or sub-ledger transactions relevant for Group reporting as well as local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles reporting
- Maintain one or more ledger categories/chart of accounts as a regular part of daily work
- Perform and review SOX controls in line with Group internal guidelines
- Process moderate to complex transactions and related activities and communicate/document financial statement impacts to management
- Prepare and review complex reconciliations and clear all open items; process complex collections and settlements
- Prepare and review financial reports and find and correct errors
- Analyze financial statements, ledger accounts and prepare complex spreadsheets
- Prepare and monitor budgets and trends; suggest solutions to issues
- Perform complex accounting research and apply complex accounting theory to transactions
- Identify potential process improvements and efficiencies; develop and present action plans for improvement to management
- Communicate complex concepts and subject matter to supervisors, outside vendors or customers
- Promote teamwork and lead or participate in project work streams
- Oversee analysis performed by less experienced staff (if applicable)
- Lead or participate in inter-department group teams on complex projects, evaluate potential impact on local reporting units, perform local implementation of changes
- Travel for business as required
- Work extended hours during peak periods as required
- Pass applicable exam/licensing as required
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance
- Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance area AND
- Experience with accounting and financial reporting, general ledger and reporting tools
- CPA
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
- Insurance industry experience
- Advanced general ledger transactional experience
- Project management experience
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office experience
- Technology experience related to one or more of the following areas:
General ledger, financial reporting systems, Business Objects or other query tools - Strong written and verbal communication skills
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The proposed salary range for this position is $96,000.00 - $, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
