The role combines technical treaty underwriting expertise, actuarial analysis, portfolio steering, and market-facing leadership, with a strong focus on risk quality, capital efficiency, and long‑term profitability across the reinsurance cycle.

You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders – including clients, brokers, actuaries, client managers, reserving teams, and senior leadership – to evaluate individual treaties, steer client portfolios, and negotiate price and terms while shaping market dynamics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite U.S. Global Property Treaty business across catastrophe and non‑catastrophe structures, including quota share, excess of loss, and aggregate covers, applying sound underwriting judgment and technical analysis.
  • Analyze treaty submissions using exposure data, catastrophe modeling outputs, pricing frameworks, and qualitative risk assessment to ensure alignment with risk appetite and develop robust loss picks.
  • Assess cedant performance, portfolio composition, underwriting philosophy, and risk controls, and structure treaties (limits, attachments, reinstatements, and T&Cs) to appropriately balance risk and return.
  • Review contract and policy language to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and consistency with intended risk transfer.
  • Act as a trusted underwriting partner and visible market representative, fostering strong relationships, disciplined risk selection, and a collaborative, solution‑oriented team culture.
  • Mentor and coach junior underwriters to build necessary skills to support our clients and manage market cycles.
