A growing and well-capitalized specialty insurance organization is seeking a Manager, Ceded Reinsurance to join its team.
This highly visible role sits at the intersection of Reinsurance, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Underwriting, and Operations. The successful candidate will serve as a key business partner across the organization, ensuring reinsurance programs are accurately administered, analyzed, and reported throughout their life cycle. The role offers broad exposure to ceded reinsurance structures, financial reporting, treaty administration, strategic initiatives, and organizational growth efforts.
Position OverviewThe Manager, Ceded Reinsurance will play a central role in supporting the administration, analysis, and reporting of the company's ceded reinsurance programs. This individual will work closely with reinsurance leadership and serve as the primary liaison to Accounting and Finance teams, ensuring treaty structures, cession activity, settlements, recoverables, and reporting requirements are accurately reflected across systems and financial reporting processes. The role combines reinsurance analytics, treaty administration, financial reporting support, business partnership, and process improvement responsibilities, providing significant visibility across multiple functional areas of the organization.
Key Responsibilities Reinsurance Program Administration- Support the onboarding, implementation, and ongoing administration of ceded reinsurance agreements.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of treaty structures, contract provisions, cession methodologies, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure treaty terms are accurately reflected within operational and financial systems.
- Coordinate treaty setup, maintenance, and updates across relevant stakeholders and platforms.
- Support ceded premium, commission, recoverable, and settlement reporting processes.
- Analyze ceded premium activity, recoverables, commissions, profit-sharing arrangements, and treaty performance.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reporting for reinsurance leadership and business partners.
- Support analysis of reinsurance program effectiveness, profitability, and operational performance.
- Assist in evaluating new programs, distribution opportunities, and reinsurance structures.
- Develop reporting and analytical tools that enhance visibility into reinsurance results.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Reinsurance and Accounting teams.
- Partner closely with Finance and Accounting to ensure accurate reporting of reinsurance-related balances and activity.
- Support Schedule F preparation, treaty interpretation, reconciliations, and other reinsurance-related reporting requirements.
- Assist with management reporting, forecasting inputs, and financial analyses involving ceded reinsurance.
- Provide subject matter expertise on treaty structures and reinsurance economics to financial stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve reinsurance workflows, reporting processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Support implementation and enhancement of reinsurance administration systems and reporting tools.
- Assist with finance transformation, automation, and data governance initiatives.
- Develop and maintain process documentation and operational best practices.
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives supporting organizational growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Approximately 5+ years of experience within reinsurance, insurance finance, insurance accounting, financial reporting, reinsurance operations, or related functions.
- Working knowledge of ceded reinsurance concepts and structures.
- Experience supporting reinsurance reporting, treaty administration, financial analysis, or operational processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across functional teams.
- Experience supporting quota share, excess of loss, facultative, or other treaty structures.
- Exposure to Schedule F reporting and statutory accounting concepts.
- Experience with in a P & C insurance, reinsurance, MGA, MGU, or fronting carrier environment.
- CPA, CPCU, ARe, or other insurance-related professional designation.
- Familiarity with reinsurance administration, accounting, or reporting systems.
- Experience partnering with Accounting, Finance, Actuarial, and Underwriting teams.
