Back End Developer

We’re hiring senior Server-Side Java Developers to support large-scale public safety and alerting platforms used by municipalities, colleges, and government organizations nationwide.

This is a 6-month contract with strong potential to convert to full-time for the right fit. We’re intentionally seeking top-tier backend engineers who want meaningful, long-term impact—not short-term staff augmentation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and enhance server-side Java services supporting high-volume, mission-critical systems
• Work in event-driven architectures (moving away from polling-based patterns)
• Support cloud migration and legacy modernization initiatives
• Improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Contribute to platforms delivering billions of alerts annually
• Collaborate with experienced engineers in a lean, high-accountability team

Core Technical Requirements

• Strong experience with Java (Java 17 preferred)
• Spring / Spring Boot and RESTful services
• Event-driven architecture (Kafka or similar messaging systems)
• Backend-focused development (minimal front-end exposure acceptable)
• Experience with MySQL and Redis
• Proven ability to work on large, complex systems

Highly Valued Experience (Not Required)

• High-throughput alerting or notification systems
• Public safety, 911, emergency management, or investigation systems
• Telephony or communications platforms
• Government or regulated cloud environments (FedRAMP, sovereign clouds)
