Join an award-winning Library! The Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for an Innovation Space Assistant to join our team. This opportunity offers excellent benefits working 30 hours a week, with days, nights and weekends.
The hiring range for this position is $20.51-$24.62 per hour, based on skills and qualifications. Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed.

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Innovation Space Manager, the Innovation Space Assistant fosters a creative and user-centered environment while assisting Library customers and staff in accessing Innovation Space services, equipment, and technologies in person and in the community. The Innovation Space Assistant provides technical expertise and assistance with the ongoing development and improvement of Innovation Space services.
This position will work four (4) 7.5 hour days, including Saturdays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staff the Innovation Space during open hours
- Provide instructional guidance for patrons using Innovation Space equipment
- Maintain inventory of materials for staff and patron use
- Implement programming related to innovation equipment and services
- Provide training on Innovation Space equipment for staff and patrons
- Attends staff meetings and participates in other committee meetings as needed
- Maintain and troubleshoot equipment
- Cultivate an atmosphere conducive to learning, creating and exploring
- Demonstrated proficiency and comfort with a variety of hardware and software products
- Comfortable with a hands‑on approach, particularly an ability to improvise with audiences of varied ages, the use of hand tools, electronics, computer software, hardware and various other technologies
- Demonstrated ability in physical computing, hardware and software, video and audio production, and desktop fabrication
- Ability to work with colleagues in other departments cooperatively, productively, and positively
Education and/or
Experience:
- Three (3) or more years of previous experience working in a large makerspace is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent knowledge and skill in areas related to the responsibilities of the position is preferred
- Customer service experience is required
