Position SummaryThe Finisher is responsible for preparing fabricated parts by grinding, sanding, and smoothing surfaces to meet quality standards and prepare for the next stage of production. This role also involves tasks such as deburring, polishing, cleaning, and inspecting parts before shipment or assembly.
Key Responsibilities- Grind, sand, and smooth welds, edges, and surfaces using hand tools and powered equipment.
- Remove burs, rough spots, and other imperfections.
- Inspect parts for defects, ensuring they meet specifications before moving to the next process.
- Follow all work instructions, drawings, and quality standards.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Maintain equipment in safe and proper working conditions.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
- Previous manufacturing, metalworking, or finishing experience preferred but not required.
- Experience with pressure testing equipment (e.g., hydraulic, pneumatic, hydrostatic, etc.) is preferred but not required.
- Ability to use grinders, sanders, buffers, and related finishing tools.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and basic shop drawings.
- Basic understanding of measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, gauges).
- Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection required.
- May involve repetitive tasks and physical activity throughout the shift.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, bend, lift up to 50lbs., and perform repetitive motions.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and manual handling of sheet metal materials.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
