LHH is assisting a growing manufacturing organization in seeking a detail-oriented Buyer to support production operations by ensuring the timely availability of raw materials and semi-finished goods. This role is critical in maintaining efficient inventory levels, minimizing supply risks, and supporting uninterrupted production. The anticipated salary for this role is between $80,000-$90,000 a year.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute purchase orders for both direct and indirect materials across multiple U.S. locations
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to ensure accurate material planning and inventory management
- Partner with production planning to align material availability with production schedules
- Track and follow up on open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery
- Proactively resolve supply delays, shortages, and quality issues with suppliers and internal teams
- Support supplier performance management, including participation in business reviews and evaluations
- Assist in sourcing initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and new material qualifications
- Manage consignment inventory and provide regular usage reporting to suppliers
- Maintain and adjust inventory parameters such as reorder points and safety stock levels
- Monitor excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory; recommend corrective actions
- Conduct inventory reconciliations and support cycle counts and annual physical inventory
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to review production status and inventory health
- Review and approve invoices related to purchases and inbound freight
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in purchasing or supply chain
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Commitment to maintaining safe working conditions and adherence to all health and safety policies
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred (chemical industry experience is a plus)
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus)
