2nd Shift Manufacturing Production Supervisor

Lacon, IL

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands‑on 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to lead our manufacturing team. You will manage a team of 3-6 operators and technicians. Your primary focus will be ensuring safety, maintaining quality standards, and meeting daily production targets. This is a working Supervisor role at $28-$30/hr + 7.5% shift differential and is eligible for overtime pay.

Shift Schedule
  • 2nd shift: 3pm-1am. Currently running 5 days a week but it does flex between 4 and 5 day work weeks. The Supervisor should report 15 minutes early, leave 15 minutes late. Training period of 8-12 weeks on first shift.
Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership:
    Manage, train, and mentor less than 20 shift employees.
  • Daily Operations:
    Oversee daily extrusion line setups, operations, and teardowns.
  • Safety Enforcement:
    Maintain strict adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Quality Control:
    Monitor product dimensions and visuals to minimize scrap rates.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Assist technicians with mechanical and process issues on extrusion machinery.
  • Performance Tracking:
    Complete shift logs, production reports, and attendance tracking.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Implement lean manufacturing practices to optimize workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    Background in plastics manufacturing or similar industries such as metal, lumber, automotive, or aerospace.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Leadership:
    Proven track record of managing and motivating small teams (under 20 people).
  • Communication:
    Clear verbal and written communication skills for cross‑shift handoffs.
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required; technical or post‑secondary degree is a plus.
