Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for producing wort and maintaining brewing equipment and facility.

Primary

Job Responsibilities
  • Complete brewing process in a safe and efficient manner. This includes, but is not limited to, milling, mashing, lautering, wort boiling, cooling, and transferring to storage vessels.
  • Repair brewery equipment with assistance from other brewhouse employees.
  • Complete daily cleaning and maintenance checklists.
  • Aid with yeast propagation following the company's process.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all areas in the brew house.
  • Work with a lab technician to ensure the product meets the highest quality standards.
  • Use standard operating procedures unless otherwise instructed.
  • Communicate regularly and efficiently with Granite City staff.
  • Maintain inventory as needed and report any low levels to supervisor.
  • Arrive at each shift on time with a positive attitude.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Passion and commitment to brewing.
  • Able to lift heavy objects (empty kegs, 50‑pound malt bags, etc.) above five feet in height.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Able to enter and exit brewery vessels for cleaning and inspection.
  • Work in environments of 32 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Able to understand MSDS and handle chemicals utilized in the brewery.
  • Able to multitask and work both unsupervised and as part of a team.
Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Brewing experience preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a motor vehicles records background check.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule of nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
