Position: Pre-Admission Testing Nurse (PAT RN)

Complete comprehensive pre-anesthesia telephone assessments using SIS (our EMR) and SSC PAT Protocol.
Review medical and surgical history, medications, allergies, prior anesthesia history, and pertinent risk factors.
Determine and coordinate required medical, cardiac, and specialty clearances.
Obtain and review laboratory results, EKGs, imaging, H&Ps, and specialist clearances.
Recognize patients who require anesthesia review or may not be appropriate for SSC.
Submit completed charts to anesthesia for review and accurately document recommendations in the EHR.
Provide medication, NPO, transportation, and day-of-surgery instructions to patients.
Track outstanding testing and clearances and follow them through completion.
Prioritize urgent, next-day, and add-on cases appropriately.
Communicate proactively with physician offices, anesthesia, schedulers, and leadership.
Identify problems early to minimize preventable day-of-surgery delays and cancellations.

Required Qualifications:

BLS certification.
Minimum 1 year of direct Pre-Admission Testing / Pre-Surgical Testing RN experience.
Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow incomplete items to resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two or more years of PAT, ambulatory surgery, Pre Op, PACU, OR, or perioperative experience.
Orthopedic experience, including total joints and/or spine.
Experience coordinating medical and specialty clearances.
Familiarity with EHR or similar software.
ACLS and/or PALS.
Begins at $38.00/hour (hourly rate may increase based on experience)
