About the Role
As a Department Manager, you’ll be the leader supporting and encouraging your whole team. By bringing everyone together, you’ll create an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit, helping you, your team, and H&M succeed. You will ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for your store, customers, and colleagues. You’ll be aware of your store’s strengths, opportunities, and competitors, analyze sales data, and create plans to optimize results and profits.

Responsibilities
  • You are responsible for the total OMNI customer experience in your store, ensuring visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines.
  • Represent yourself and the H&M brand positively during customer interactions.
  • Identify commercial opportunities in your department and act on them, while managing the department in a cost‑efficient way.
  • Establish and analyze sales and budget goals, creating plans to optimize results.
  • Ensure customer service is provided in all areas of the store and that your team can actively promote and sell products to customers.
  • Promote the Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in‑store sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain correct routines in fitting rooms and checkout, including transactions, returns, and exchanges.
  • Handle all administrative routines for people and operations appropriately.
  • Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of fashion trends, styles, brands, products, competitors, and relevant influencers; convey this knowledge to customers.
  • Recruit, onboard, evaluate, and develop your team, including performance management and succession planning.
  • Plan and schedule the team, and communicate regularly to inform, motivate, and inspire through meetings and other interactions.
  • Ensure all procedures, routines, and legal requirements are followed in every area of the store.
  • Participate in onboarding, introduction processes, trainings, and courses relevant to your role and future development.
  • Secure a clean and tidy sales floor, back‑of‑house, and stockroom areas.
  • Present high‑fashion quality visual and commercial displays with proper garment care.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels and provide input on allocation to the area team.
  • Ensure the full garment cycle—from delivery to presentation—and fitting room routines meet internal standards and use all offered tools and technology.
  • Follow best practice for in‑store OMNI services, tech services, and tools such as Instore Care App, Click & Collect, and Smart Store.
  • Maintain balanced, accurate price signs throughout the store, following global and local strategies.
  • Update and maintain back‑of‑house information for employees (key information, health & safety, tidiness, etc.).
  • Responsible for daily opening and closing of the store.
