Job Description: The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for managing the overall sales and marketing efforts for Olympic Steel within an assigned territory. This position utilizes frequent, direct face‑to‑face contact and a consultative sales approach to ensure customer satisfaction. The representative identifies selling opportunities and acts upon those that offer maximum potential and/or profit. This position develops new accounts and maintains strong working relationships with established, loyal customers.
In addition, the Outside Sales Representative develops annual forecasts, implements plans and strategies to achieve revenue and volume targets, and partners with Inside Sales Representatives to ensure high‑quality service, including on‑time delivery according to customer specifications.
- Data entry in CRM system
- Develop new and existing accounts
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of related work experience in a sales and customer service position, preferably in a steel service environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Business Administration, Marketing, or Engineering) or commensurate sales experience in the steel industry.
- Ability to develop new account relationships and expand business with an existing customer base.
- Steel product knowledge, general business acumen, and demonstrated customer service aptitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel by air and land, with a willingness to travel as the position requires.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to negotiate effectively, educate customers about products and services, and close a sale.
- Ability to formulate sales quotes and proposals.
