La‑Z‑Boy Inc. is a leading furniture retailer committed to comfort and innovation. We are seeking a motivated Sales Associate to drive sales, serve customers, and support design programs in our stores.

Job Summary

As a Sales Associate, you will sell furniture, accessories, and services while delivering exceptional customer experiences. You will build long‑term relationships, collaborate with our Designers, and remain knowledgeable of product lines. The role offers an hourly base wage plus uncapped commissions, with a 2‑6 week training period and potential total earnings ranging from $50,000 to $70,000+ annually.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive sales and contribute to store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories, and services.
  • Promote the Design program and assist the Designer to achieve established sales goals.
  • Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process to provide a favorable experience for all customers.
  • Develop and utilize sales skills and principles including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, portfolio presentations, objection handling, closing, follow‑up, and after‑sale service.
  • Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of features and benefits of existing and new product lines.
  • Schedule professional home consultations to present customized room designs, sample fabrics, furniture, tables, and accessories, and explain installation services.
  • Execute and champion the Design process following company guidelines.
  • Provide support for design‑related functions in the store.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to all current and future customers.
  • Ensure each customer receives an informative and positive experience using good service skills and product knowledge.
  • Effectively use Podium to ensure customer satisfaction and future follow‑up.
  • Make sound business decisions to deliver satisfaction and promote a team environment.
  • Respond to incoming phone calls and emails and assist with customer issues or complaints.
  • Provide appropriate solutions and alternatives to achieve a satisfied experience.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all store employees.
  • Assist in training, coaching, and developing new peers on product knowledge and selling skills.
  • Help promote and champion a culture of sales and service.
  • Assist with maintaining store visual appearance, displays, tagging, cataloging, floor moves, and general cleanliness.
  • Accurately complete order information, collect deposits and fees, maintain orderly customer records, and research payments and deliveries.
  • Accurately complete daily On‑Point system logs.
  • Show urgency, enthusiasm, and excitement with the store team and customers.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of company standards, product knowledge, and internal processes and systems.
  • Consistently schedule deliveries with customers.
  • Open and close the store.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous selling experience and ability to close a sale preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and positively influence others.
  • Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage time and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Initiative to meet assigned goals and motivated to achieve more.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must pass background and drug screen.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
Physical Demands / Work Environment

Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds; stand for long periods; perform repetitive hand motions; sit, walk, bend, and stoop; work in indoor environmental conditions.

Benefits
  • Training Pay: $16 per hour for 2‑6 weeks (no commission).
  • Average Annual Earnings After Training: $50,000–$70,000+ (inclusive of base, bonus, and commission).
  • Base Pay: $13 per hour (varies by store location).
  • Uncapped commissions ranging from 2%–6% based on sales type.
  • Quarterly bonus opportunity up to $3,500 based on individual sales goals.
  • 10–12 paid holidays per year.
  • Two weeks prorated vacation as a new hire.
  • Personal or state‑mandated sick time.
