Position: HOSPITAL POLICE OFFICER REGISTRY - (10:45pm - 6:45am)

LOCATION: John H. Stroger Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Security

SHIFT: 10:45 p.m.

- 6:45 a.m.

This position is exempt from Career Service under the CCH Personnel Rules.

Job Summary

The Hospital Police Officer Registry will protect and ensure the safety of Cook County Health (CCH) employees, patients and visitors to the hospital and its adjacent campus and grounds. Patrols assigned areas, monitors crowds and traffic, responds to incidents as they occur. Complete incident and other reports, as required. Liaison with other law enforcement agencies regarding are crime conditions for CCH.

Maintains completed status for various annual certification requirements. This is a part-time registry position with an opportunity to work no more than eighteen hours per week.

Typical Duties
  • Protects and ensure the safety of Hospital employees, patients and visitors to the hospital and its adjacent campus and grounds.
  • Patrols assigned areas.
  • Monitors crowds and traffic.
  • Responds to incidents as they occur.
  • Completes incident and other reports, as required.
  • Liaisons with other law enforcement agencies regarding are crime conditions at CCH.
  • Maintains completed status for various annual certification requirements.
  • Must be able to work up to 9-hours per day but no more than 18 hours per week.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified Police Officer
  • Prior experience as a Certified Police Officer
  • Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License. (Must provide license at time of interview)
  • Must possess a valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card issued by the State of Illinois. (Must provide original card at time of interview)
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor offense
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Other Characteristics
  • Knowledge and familiarity to execute procedures relating to emergency and natural disaster situations
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable local, state, and federal statutes and ordinances
  • Ability to understand and obey orders and function within the guidelines, rules and regulations governing Cook County Health.
  • Must possess the ability to make sound judgments relating to, any and all, law enforcement situations.
  • Ability to chronicle events and record information accurately.
