Mechanic Position

First Student is hiring immediately for a Mechanic for our shop serving Schaumburg IL! As a Technician at First Student, you will play an integral role in ensuring the safety of the children who count on us for a ride to and from school.

We offer a competitive compensation package: $23.75 per hour or more based on experience and qualifications (NOT flat‑rate), $1000 sign‑on bonus (expires 12/31/2024),
ASE incentive of $0.50/hour for each relevant ASE obtained (we pay for the training materials and exams!),
Monday‑Friday full‑time shift

Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drive trains, and transmissions
• Complete work orders
• Assist with mobile emergency services
• Use diagnostic skills to troubleshoot issues needing repair work

Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience working with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
• Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain a CDL (training provided)
• Mechanic's tool set
• Desire to grow, learn, and develop your skillset through ASE testing
• Commitment to making a meaningful impact in your community
