About Sunrun &The Role
Help launch Sunrun’s brand-new St. Louis branch! As America’s #1 home solar and battery company, we are seeking an experienced Certified Electrician to join our team starting now! As a key member of our launch team, you will spend your first few months gaining hands‑on leadership experience alongside our established Chicago team before permanently running installation crews out of our new St.
Louis branch when doors open in early 2027. Through our Power+ program, we invest heavily in your skills and career development, offering cross‑training across solar, battery, and service operations to build long‑term job security.
While supporting operations in Chicago during the pre‑launch phase, Sunrun covers 100% of your travel overhead:
- Rotation
Schedule:
2 weeks on‑site in Chicago, followed by 4 full days off at home in St. Louis. - Company Vehicle:
Dedicated company vehicle provided for travel and work use. - Paid Travel Time:
Full hourly compensation for time spent traveling between St. Louis and Chicago. - Lodging & Meal Allowance: 100% company‑paid hotel accommodations plus daily per diem.
- Electrical Interconnection:
Lead the installation of electrical systems interconnecting residential solar arrays and battery storage systems to the power grid. - Code & Quality Compliance:
Ensure all electrical work performed meets high standards of workmanship and complies strictly with current NEC, local codes, engineering plans, and safety standards. - Panel Upgrades & Storage:
Safely plan, execute, and complete Main Panel Upgrades (MPU) and complex solar battery installations. - Troubleshooting & Service:
Diagnose system issues, troubleshoot electrical problems, and carry out necessary repairs or upgrades to support solar equipment. - Inspections & Branch
Collaboration:
Work directly with local inspectors to satisfy local jurisdiction requirements and collaborate with homeowners and branch teams to ensure smooth project completion.
- Licensing:
Must possess a valid Journeyman License, Electrician Certification, or equivalent per state/local requirements (e.g., Wireman License). - Electrical
Experience:
Proven background in electrical installation, repair, and replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels. - Technical
Skills:
Hands‑on experience with wiring systems up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC; deep working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). - Driver Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (ability to pass a driving background check). - Safety & Customer Focus:
Strong commitment to safety protocols and providing a positive experience for homeowners on‑site.
- Lifting & Transport:
Ability to regularly transport materials and equipment up to 50 lbs (and up to 100 lbs with assistance). - Working at Heights & Confined Spaces:
Comfortable working on rooftops with various pitches/surfaces, walking on rafters/shingles without causing damage, and maneuvering in attics, basements, or crawl spaces (bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching). - PPE & Safety Gear:
