Elite Maintenance Technician 3rd shift, in Schaumburg

Position Summary - 7pm to 7am (Night Shift)

The highest technical level within the maintenance department. Tier 1 technicians are subject matter experts capable of troubleshooting, repairing, programming, and improving all plant systems with minimal supervision. They lead complex repairs, mentor other technicians, and drive reliability improvements throughout the facility.

Required Technical Skills

Electrical Systems

• Advanced troubleshooting of 24
  
  VDC, 120
  
  VAC, 240
  
  VAC, and 480
  
  VAC systems
• Read and interpret electrical schematics
• Troubleshoot motor starters, contractors, overloads, relays, and transformers
• Troubleshoot and repair VFDs and servo systems
• Perform advanced electrical diagnostics using meters and testing equipment
• Troubleshoot communication networks and control wiring

PLC & Controls

• PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Online monitoring of PLC programs
• Force inputs and outputs when authorized
• Modify PLC logic when approved
• Troubleshoot HMI systems
• Troubleshoot Ethernet/IP, Device Net, and industrial communication networks
• Configure and troubleshoot sensors and instrumentation

Motors & Drives

• Diagnose motor failures
• Perform motor testing including insulation and winding checks
• Troubleshoot VFD programming and parameter settings
• Diagnose gearbox failures
• Perform precision alignment procedures

Pneumatics & Hydraulics

• Troubleshoot hydraulic valves, pumps, cylinders, and power units
• Troubleshoot pneumatic cylinders, regulators, valves, and air systems
• Read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics

Mechanical Systems

• Lock out/tag out
• Advanced conveyor systems
• Chains, sprockets, bearings, gearboxes
• Welding and fabrication
• Precision mechanical alignments
• Equipment rebuilds
• Root cause failure analysis

Reliability & Leadership Responsibilities

• Lead major breakdown investigations
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Develop PM procedures
• Train and mentor lower-tier technicians
• Lead shutdowns and capital projects
• Recommend equipment improvements
• Reduce downtime through reliability initiatives

Experience Requirement

• 8+ years industrial maintenance experience
• Proven PLC and controls troubleshooting experience
• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex equipment
