AS400 Synon Application support Engineer

Job Description

Deep knowledge of AS400 (IBM iSeries) architecture and environment.

• Experience in application maintenance and production support.
• Strong understanding of job scheduling, batch processing, job queues and spool files, debugging, system logs.
• Experience with change management tools (preferred: ALDON).
• Good knowledge of FTP processes and protocols for file transfer.
• Strong debugging and performance tuning capabilities in legacy systems.
• Experience working in RxClaim / PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) domain.
• Familiarity with healthcare systems and claims processing.
• Exposure to incident/problem management tools (Service Now, Remedy, etc.).
• Knowledge of modernization approaches (Mainframe/AS400 to Cloud) is a plus.

• Provide L2/L3 production support for AS400-based applications.
• Perform incident analysis, root‑cause identification, and resolution.
• Work on bug fixes, minor enhancements, and code deployments.
• Monitor batch jobs, interfaces, and system performance.
• Support data corrections and production issue troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (business, QA, Dev Ops).
• Ensure adherence to change management and release processes.
• Handle on‑call support and critical production issues.
• Maintain documentation, knowledge base, and support runbooks.
• Participate in continuous improvement and system stability initiatives.

$110,000 – $130,000 per year.
