Overview
Working as part of a small, agile team to design and implement new features and technologies. Delivering high-quality, high-performance code in an agile environment. Using, evaluating, and learning exciting new technologies that keep our products and teams on the cutting edge. As a key member of the team, this individual will help design, develop, and maintain complex JEE solutions with a focus on quality, performance, and resiliency.
Responsibilities- Be part of a Scrum team working on API and microservices development using open-source technologies like Java and Spring Boot.
- Design APIs following RESTful principles and API-led architecture.
- Lead API development and integrations, collaborating with other developers, architects, and product owners.
- Build consistent, reusable, and secure APIs and microservices following enterprise standards and best practices.
- Develop code that is highly scalable with consistent performance under high load.
- Establish a strong culture of security awareness and Dev Sec Ops practices within the API development lifecycle.
- Debug within a complex environment that includes multiple connected systems.
- Monitor application health and perform operational reporting.
- Ensure the API-based architecture delivers best-in-class user experience and response time.
- Promote reusability of developed components.
- Minimum of 7 years in IT, including at least 4 years in API and microservices development.
- 4+ years of Java backend development with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
- 4+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum.
- 4+ years of experience in cloud environments (preferably AWS).
- Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and integration patterns.
- Experience leveraging GenAI tools and AI-first development approaches.
- Experience integrating with databases (SQL and No
SQL), SFTP, REST/SOAP/GraphQL APIs, and other systems. - Strong unit testing experience (e.g., JUnit).
- Experience integrating with messaging platforms like IBM MQ and Kafka.
- Experience with end-to-end enterprise application lifecycle (design, development, deployment, testing, integration).
- Experience with CI/CD tools and source control.
- Experience designing API proxies and REST APIs using an API management platform.
- Knowledge of API security including OIDC and OAuth 2.0.
- Experience designing API specifications in RAML, YAML, or Swagger.
- Understanding of Dev Sec Ops CI/CD pipelines and ability to troubleshoot pipeline issues with the Dev Ops team.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team with a strong focus on customer service and solution ownership.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent (Required)
