Facilities.
The Assistant:
Facilities supports the New York Office Services team in maintaining office space, fixtures, and furnishings; performing basic handyman and repair work; assisting with relocations and new hire set-ups; conducting daily inspections; and providing departmental support.
Essential Functions:
- Performs handyman work including but not limited to carpentry, painting, drywall and plaster repair, miscellaneous electrical work, minor plumbing repairs, door and window repair and the repairs to furniture and finishes
- Keeps building facilities, fixtures and furnishings in satisfactory condition
- Provides office relocations and office set ups for new and lateral hires
- Performs daily inspection and maintenance of office space and furnishings, reports areas needing repair and attention
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include the changing of bulbs, ballast and rewiring of lamps
- Provides back-up support for other jobs within the department and communicates departmental/organizational policies related to facilities work
- Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives
Education/Training/
Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job
Professional
Experience:
- Previous experience with painting, electrical repairs, office moves, customer service and the use of power tools
- Ability to use and operate all basic carpentry hand, and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints, floor plans, furniture plans and schedules
- Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in areas of specialty
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
Technical
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Must be able to comply with entering time in DTE and communicating via email
- Ability to operate a Smartphone
Performance Traits:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities
- Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
- Strong customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
- Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements:
- May require occasional lifting of up to 60 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Able to crawl, bend, stoop, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, and grasp
- Able to lift and climb ladders
