Senior Tax Manager

Chicago | Hybrid 1-2 days onsite | Leadership Opportunity

A boutique accounting firm providing tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll services to small to mid-sized businesses is seeking an experienced CPA to step into a senior leadership role overseeing client relationships, tax and accounting services, and staff operations. You would be responsible for a small portfolio of 5-7 complex tax clients as well. This role offers meaningful influence on strategy, team development, and the future direction of the firm, with a clear path toward long-term leadership and potential partnership.

Reporting directly to the Firm Owners.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to small to mid-sized business owners and high-net-worth clients
• Lead and review tax and accounting engagements across multiple entity types
• Provide expertise on complex tax matters, planning, multi-state filings, and business transactions
• Oversee the client bookkeeping, payroll services, and tax preparation for the firm's client base
• Mentor and manage a professional staff of 5
• Drive process improvement, technology adoption, and service excellence
• Contribute to firm strategy, growth initiatives, and succession planning

• Active CPA license
• 7–10 years of public accounting experience with strong tax expertise
• Proven leadership and client relationship management experience
• Deep understanding of small business accounting and tax planning
• Strong communication skills and a forward-thinking mindset
