Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired [78303]

We're currently hiring for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Will County, IL
. This position offers a chance to make a direct impact by supporting students with visual impairments through personalized instruction and adaptive learning strategies.

Position Overview

The Teacher of the Visually Impaired is responsible to the Building Principal for planning instructional lessons that meet the needs, interests and abilities of visually impaired students; creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning; and employing effective instructional techniques for the necessary curriculum adaptations.

  • Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Location: Will County, IL
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:30-3:40
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement instructional lessons aligned with students' IEPs.
  • Adapt curriculum materials and instructional techniques to ensure accessibility.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support personnel to integrate appropriate accommodations.
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility skills as needed.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Promote a learning environment that fosters independence and academic success.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field
  • Endorsement in Teacher of Students Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired
