COMPENSATION: Hourly wage is based on Level of Qualifications.
* Please note that the hourly rate of pay will be inclusive of the mandatory 4.5% retirement contribution to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
- Degree in physical therapy from an accredited program
- Illinois Licensure as an Occupational Therapist
- Previous experience with individuals with special needs preferred
- Experience with occupational therapy in educational settings desirable
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, team members, and others
Physical Requirements
The physical demands include travel to multiple locations, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, exerting force up to 50 lbs, assisting with student transfers, and operating equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
General DescriptionThe Occupational Therapist provides therapy to students to maximize their learning potential, functional abilities, and physical skills within the school environment.
Specific Responsibilities- Understand the foundations of special education and legal requirements for educational therapy services.
- Develop and implement therapy plans based on evaluations and student needs.
- Collaborate with educational team members to support student development.
- Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation and develop measurable goals.
- Provide consultation to staff and families regarding therapy strategies and student progress.
- Manage therapy equipment and prepare for meetings.
- Deliver therapy sessions tailored to individual student needs, adjusting based on progress.
- Evaluate students using various assessment techniques and synthesize results into reports.
- Create a positive and motivating therapy environment that encourages social interaction and respect.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, families, and community agencies.
- Maintain professional standards, pursue ongoing professional development, and adhere to district policies.
