We’re looking for an attorney with a strong background in utility regulation, ideally also with experience in real estate, development, municipal, or land use law, to lead a team providing legal advice and counseling to business units within Com Ed on a wide variety of issues but with a particular focus on capital projects and project management, real estate, environmental, and municipal issues.
Experience in the energy, utility, or telecom industry, and in Illinois is preferred. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong comprehension of the electric utility business and the regulatory environment, superior legal judgment in the business context, and generates new ideas and devises original and successful solutions, programs, and actions.
- Provides legal services as a practicing counsel, and directly manages relationships and matters with Business Units and outside counsel.
- Able to think strategically and work with Business Units to achieve Company objectives and manage risks.
- Experienced in project management and supervision of professionals in lower level management.
- An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions. At least 12 years of professional experience and widely recognized distinction for his/her specialty practice. Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of legal field to the completion of complex assignments.
- Extensive knowledge of courts, regulatory agencies and other applicable legal entities.
- Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $/Yr. – $/Yr. plus an additional $50,000 in Long Term Incentive Plan annually.
