The Supply Storeroom Helper is responsible for assisting with the organization, distribution, and replenishment of materials and supplies within the storeroom to support production and operations. This role ensures all items are stocked, issued, and rotated correctly, maintaining inventory accuracy and cleanliness across all shifts. Helpers must work efficiently, follow safety and sanitation procedures, and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
EssentialFunctions
- Assist in receiving, unpacking, labeling, and storing incoming supplies and materials.
- Issue supplies to departments based on daily production needs.
- Refill supply bins and maintain proper inventory rotation (FIFO).
- Keep the storeroom clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation and safety standards.
- Perform routine inventory checks and notify the supervisor of low stock or discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing and staging supplies for the next shift or production day.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, carts) safely and efficiently.
- Follow all company procedures, including safety policies, PPE requirements, and food handling protocols.
- Support cross-functional teams during audits or stocktaking activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Storeroom Supervisor or Lead.
- High school diploma or GED preferred (Must be at least 18 years of age).
- Prior experience in warehouse, inventory, or storeroom support preferred (especially in food or manufacturing).
- Basic math and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
- Team-oriented with a positive and reliable work ethic.
- Forklift or pallet jack experience/certification is a plus.
- Bilingual (e.g., English/Spanish) a plus.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentThis position is located in a food manufacturing facility and involves working in areas that may be cold, hot, humid, or noisy. The environment includes exposure to strong food odors, allergens, and moving equipment. Employees must follow strict sanitation and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may take place on wet or slippery surfaces. Schedules may include overtime, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.
PhysicalDemands
- Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, often on concrete or other hard surfaces.
- Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 lbs. (occasionally more with assistance or equipment).
- Repetitive Motions: Use of hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as packing, sorting, or operating machinery.
- Reaching/Bending: Frequent reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift.
- Manual Dexterity: Use of fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision and coordination, such as operating controls or using small tools.
- Climbing: Occasionally climb ladders or stairs to access equipment or elevated workstations.
- Visual Requirements: Ability to visually inspect products, labels, or equipment for quality and safety standards.
- Auditory Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal communication in a noisy environment.
- PPE Use: Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, hair nets, earplugs, safety glasses, steel-toe boots) for the duration of the shift.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard hours and days of work may vary based on production schedules and operational needs, including flight schedules. Evening, weekends, and holiday work may be required, as well as occasional overtime.
