Sales Engineer

Scott has one of the best teams of Certified Fluid Power Specialists, Certified Electronic Control Specialists, and Certified Fluid Power Technicians to assist with problem-solving, system building, troubleshooting, and other custom requirements.
At Scott Industrial Systems, our account managers use their knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, automation and electronic systems combined with basic customer management skills to define and offer technical solutions to current/potential customers. They spend most of their time as business development experts developing/building relationships throughout their assigned territory and growing market share.
We distribute products from the world’s leading fluid power manufacturers, including Danfoss, Parker, and over 40 others. We have been in business for 77 years, and we are privately held.
We are currently seeking an Account Manager to join our Northern Illinois sales team.
Core Responsibilities:- Create and execute a sales plan identifying and engaging current/prospective high-potential accounts in the assigned territory to achieve sales and profit goals.
- Aggressively drives the sales process through face-to-face customer meetings.
- Effectively communicates the Scott Value Propositions.
- Seek new opportunities to introduce our products, systems, and services.
- Update and maintain your customer information and opportunities in our CRM system on a daily/weekly basis.
- Generate quotes and follow up on assigned leads.
- Coordinate customer projects with our engineering and service teams.
- Act as a local technical resource in your territory with our customer base.
- Organize and help conduct training demonstrating our expertise and value.
- Develop professional working relationships with key supplier resources to help specify products and systems that will enhance customer performance.
- All other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities:
- HS Diploma or Equivalent required;
Technical Diploma, or bachelor's degree or fluid power application experience preferred. - Strong fluid power, electrical, mechanical aptitude with a desire and passion to learn.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and system schematics preferred.
- Strong English written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills.
- Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task, time management skills, and sense of urgency.
