Overview

Are you an experienced chief engineer seeking your next journey at a busy property? The Aloft Scottsdale is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead and manage the property's maintenance operations.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor life safety systems and utilities; administer the department in compliance with corporate/franchise standards and local, state, and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests, and associates.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and repair of the hotel's mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and the general maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant, FF&E, grounds, and pool in line with Crescent and brand standards.
  • Interview, hire, train, evaluate performance, resolve problems, and manage disciplinary actions as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other hotel equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance assignments.
  • Respond courteously to guest questions, complaints, and requests to ensure high guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate with hotel department heads to identify maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
  • Service the hotel pool, adjust chemicals, clean filters, and maintain maintenance request logs.
  • Maintain the building exterior and curb appeal (snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening).
  • Maintain franchise standards and follow up on inspection deficiencies.
  • Coordinate compliance of service contracts.
  • Implement and maintain Crescent’s preventive maintenance program and room care programs.
  • Maintain Crescent’s engineering department minimum standards.
  • Assist General Manager with annual Capital Plan development.
  • Participate in Crescent’s Safety Plan and energy improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to provide direction to staff.
  • Adhere to attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition; professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to communicate well with guests and team members; willing to pitch in and help co-workers.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and security issues; take appropriate action.
  • Proficiency in areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems.
  • Responsive to guest and maintenance-related complaints.
