Job Overview

As the Grounds Maintenance Assistant Supervisor, you will assist in maintaining the overall appearance, health, and functionality of the community's landscaping, lakes, irrigation systems, and common areas. This hourly, non-exempt position supports the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor in the day-to-day leadership of the grounds team by helping coordinate work activities, monitoring quality standards, training employees, and ensuring the community's landscaping assets are maintained in a safe, attractive, and efficient manner.

The Assistant Supervisor serves as a working leader who provides hands-on support while helping ensure grounds maintenance projects and daily responsibilities are completed on time and to established standards.

Compensation

$27+ per hour, depending on experience

First Service Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor in overseeing the daily operations of the landscaping and grounds maintenance team.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, training, and support to grounds maintenance staff.
  • Lead by example and perform landscaping and grounds maintenance duties alongside team members as needed.
  • Help monitor the condition of landscaping, turf, lakes, irrigation systems, and common areas to ensure community standards are met.
  • Assist with scheduling daily work assignments and ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Support irrigation inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Monitor water usage and report concerns, abnormalities, or system issues to management.
  • Participate in routine inspections of common areas, identifying maintenance needs and recommending solutions.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers as directed by the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain inventory of landscaping materials, irrigation components, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with processing work orders and ensuring timely completion of grounds-related maintenance requests.
  • Ensure employees follow established safety procedures and company policies.
  • Help train new associates on proper grounds maintenance techniques, equipment operation, and safety practices.
  • Support preparation for Board meetings, inspections, community events, and special projects as needed.
  • Respond to landscaping and grounds-related emergencies when necessary.
  • Assist management with maintaining accurate attendance, scheduling, and operational records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills And Qualifications
  • Experience leading or directing landscaping, grounds maintenance, golf course maintenance, or similar outdoor operations teams.
  • Working knowledge of irrigation systems, landscaping practices, and grounds maintenance techniques.
  • Able to organize work, prioritize tasks, and support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to coach and develop team members while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Able to work independently while following direction from management.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and work order systems.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Education And Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related experience (required)
