Position Overview
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is looking for a seasonal Park Maintenance Worker to support the daily upkeep and improvement of Little Buffalo State Park. The role involves a wide range of maintenance tasks to keep the park clean, safe, and functional for visitors.
Responsibilities- Maintenance Support: Assist with semi‑skilled tasks in construction and routine park maintenance
- Repair Assistance: Help skilled workers with repairs to buildings and facilities using basic tools of various trades
- Equipment Operation: Operate and care for park vehicles, tools, and machines used for maintenance tasks
- Grounds Care: Perform mowing, trimming, planting, site preparation, and general landscape upkeep
- Building Upkeep: Clean restrooms, pavilions, offices, and other park structures while completing minor repairs
- Visitor Service: Provide helpful information to park visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- This is a seasonal, full‑time position with no healthcare benefits.
- The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay, and the employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
- Typical work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Shifts and days will vary, including weekends and holidays. The employee will work 5 of 7 days / 37.5 hours per week.
- Telework: There is no option to telework in this position.
- One year of experience in laboring work, including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
- Pennsylvania law provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs.
