Head of Maintenance

A leading global metals manufacturing business with revenues exceeding $3 billion is seeking an exceptional Head of Maintenance to lead and modernise maintenance operations across a high-output manufacturing site.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially aware and technically strong maintenance professional who thrives on driving reliability, operational performance, and long-term asset strategy within a complex industrial environment.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the maintenance function moving the operation toward a world-class preventative and predictive maintenance culture while ensuring maximum plant reliability, safety, and efficiency.

Reporting into senior site leadership, the Head of Maintenance will take full ownership of the maintenance division, leading strategy, people, systems, budgets, and capital investment projects across the site.

This role requires a proactive reliability-focused engineer who can challenge reactive maintenance culture, implement best-in‑class preventative maintenance frameworks, and build a high-performing engineering function aligned to operational goals.

• Lead the site-wide maintenance and reliability strategy across all manufacturing assets
• Drive the transition from reactive to preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies
• Own and manage the full maintenance and CAPEX budget
• Develop long‑term asset management and equipment reliability plans
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on uptime, OEE, cost reduction, and operational efficiency
• Partner closely with production, engineering, and senior leadership teams to align maintenance strategy with business objectives
• Oversee major shutdowns, maintenance planning, and capital projects
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing maintenance and reliability team
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
• Introduce data‑driven maintenance KPIs and reliability metrics to support strategic decision‑making

We are looking for a hands‑on engineering leader with strong strategic capability and a passion for operational excellence.

• Significant leadership experience within heavy manufacturing, metals, steel, mining, chemicals, or similarly complex industrial environments
• A strong background in reliability engineering and preventative maintenance systems
• Proven experience managing large‑scale maintenance operations and engineering teams
• Demonstrated ownership of substantial maintenance and CAPEX budgets
• Experience implementing CMMS, predictive maintenance tools, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence at senior leadership level
• Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline preferred
