The Maintenance Repairman 2 position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offers a rewarding chance to support the care of Pennsylvania’s state forests. This position supports forest district operations through maintenance work, facility care, roadway upkeep, and assistance with forest management and fire protection. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:
Responsibilities- Facility Upkeep: Maintain buildings, mechanical systems, trails, signs, and other forest district structures
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain tools, vehicles, tractors, and specialized maintenance equipment
- Road Maintenance: Clear debris, install culverts, clean ditches, and repair forest roads using assigned tools and machinery
- Outdoor Tasks: Assist with snow removal, deliveries, sign projects, wildlife openings, and fence maintenance
- Fire Assistance: Support forest fire protection by maintaining equipment and helping with prevention and suppression activities
- Vehicle Service: Perform routine vehicle maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and basic repairs

Work Schedule and Additional Information- This is a seasonal, full‑time employment with no health care benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.
- Work hours will be between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday‑Friday. Specifics about work schedules, including the possibility of an alternate work schedule, will be discussed during the interview.

- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
