Role

Summary

The Engine Vendor Maintenance Partner is responsible for engine repair and overhaul at Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role makes recommendations based on educated judgment to make decisions in the repair and overhaul of engines and components and provides solutions to address business challenges or problems in area of expertise.

Key Duties Engine Vendor Maintenance Partner (P2)
  • Partners with vendors for administration of contracted maintenance on AS engine fleet and between AS and manufacturers, leasing companies and other airlines, for technical matters, delivery schedules, invoice discrepancies, warranty claims, and disposition of AS owned materials.
  • Monitors work-in-progress to ensure all vendor workmanship is of acceptable quality and that all work is accomplished in accordance with the work scope, and in compliance with applicable specifications.
  • Maintains accurate records of discrepancies in enough detail to support requests for procedural changes and claims for charge adjustments.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the maintenance agreements with assigned agencies and audits all invoices to ensure billing is correct and in accordance with applicable terms and conditions.
  • Maintains an informed status of new developments in repair procedures and preventative actions to preclude maintenance problems.
  • Partners with the engineering department to ensure required technical information is provided on time and provides feedback regarding conditions found during accomplishment of engine repair.
  • With limited direction from the Senior Engine Vendor Maintenance Partner of any issues that may impact safety, quality, cost, or schedule of AS engines or components while in vendor maintenance.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Engine Vendor Maintenance Partner of proposed changes in the work scope, as dictated by changing conditions during maintenance, and communicates proposed changes to relevant entities.
  • Maintains accuracy of engine stand inventory to include current locations.
  • Takes initiative to develop solutions to support process improvement and quality opportunities.
Senior Engine Vendor Maintenance Partner (P3)
  • Liaises between Alaska Airlines (AS) and vendors for administration of contracted maintenance on AS engine fleet and between AS and manufacturers, leasing companies and other airlines, for technical matters, delivery schedules, invoice discrepancies, warranty claims, and disposition of AS owned materials.
  • Monitors work-in-progress to ensure all vendor workmanship is of acceptable quality and that all work is accomplished in accordance with the work scope, and in compliance with applicable specifications.
  • Maintains accurate records of discrepancies in enough detail to support requests for procedural changes and claims for charge adjustments.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the maintenance agreements with assigned agencies and audits all invoices to ensure billing is correct and in accordance with applicable terms and conditions.
  • Maintains an informed status of new developments in repair procedures and preventative actions to preclude maintenance problems.

  • Apprises the Manager of Vendor Maintenance of any issues that may impact safety, quality, cost, or schedule of AS engines or components while in vendor maintenance.
  • Authorizes changes in the work scope, as dictated by changing conditions during maintenance, and communicates proposed changes to relevant entities.
  • Reports on engine shop visit status, performance, and quality.
  • Participates or leads process improvement opportunities.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills Intermediate Level Required
  • 2 years of experience in overhaul shop level experience with CFM
    56 engines, preferably CFM
    56-7B and/or LEAP engines.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of CFR’s for accomplishment of engine maintenance under Parts 121 and 145.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to MRO site locations both domestically and outside U.S. up to 50% of the time.
  • Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
