The Maintenance Technician 1 supports the safe, efficient, and well‑maintained operation of Bayview’s facilities. This role performs preventive maintenance, equipment monitoring, repairs, safety and security functions, and facility improvements to ensure a high‑quality physical environment for residents and staff. Working closely with the Building Maintenance Engineer, the position helps maintain utilities and essential services while responding promptly to work orders and special service requests.
The ideal candidate is proactive, safety‑focused, customer‑service oriented, and committed to maintaining resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.
- High school graduate or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
- Prefer continuing education in subjects related to building maintenance and/or construction.
- Prefer experience in building maintenance and/or construction trades.
- Prefer appropriate licenses and certifications for assisting with the operation of Bayview’s boilers and refrigeration units, or willingness to obtain such licenses and certifications.
- Current Washington State driver’s license is desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral English.
- Working knowledge of hazardous materials and the use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Working knowledge of modes of transmission of infectious diseases, including blood‑borne pathogens, and the practice of universal precautions.
- Understands and respects Residents’ Rights.
- Demonstrates patience; a genuine caring attitude toward the elderly, disabled persons, and children; flexibility; a positive outlook; the ability to focus on the strengths of other people; and a healthy sense of humor.
