Position Title: Janitor (Part Time)

Location: Seattle, WA

Division: Potawatomi Defense Operations

Shift: Part Time 3:30-8:30 PM

Employment Status: Non-Exempt Hourly (SCA)

Hourly rate: $23.14 Shift Differential +$4.57 H&W

Position Summary

Works under the supervision of the On-site Site Supervisor. 95% of assigned tasks for facilities receiving services must be completed without customer complaint within the month. Must be able to use cleaning products, chemicals, vacuums, mops, wringers, dust tools, and floor machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow all rules and regulations related to entering and leaving the building.
  • Must be physically able to perform assigned work and free of communicable diseases.
  • Contractor employees shall not disturb papers on desks, open drawers or cabinets, or use telephones, copier or other official equipment.
  • Report fires, hazardous conditions, and items requiring repair such as dead lights, leaking faucets, toilet stoppage, etc.
  • Specified rooms will be locked after cleaning and keys returned to COR.
  • All personal items found by contractor employees shall be given to COR.
  • Follow established procedures for handling and mixing chemicals.
  • Dust all desks, chairs, stands, bookcases, consoles, lockers, closet shelves, radiators, windowsills, door sills, banisters, customers, consoles, and wall‑mounted accessories. Remove dust, lint, and dry soil with dust cloth or feather duster from wood furniture.
  • Remove all trash receptacles and replace liners: empty waste containers, replace liners if soiled, use spray disinfectant, tie bags, place in dumpster. Keep dumpster lid closed at all times. Ashtray containers also cleaned.
  • Wash wastebaskets: wash, dry, and return to original location.
  • Dust all furniture: dust desks, chairs, stands, bookcases, consoles, and related equipment. Use cloth or feather duster for wood; vacuum or brush for fabric. Do not dust, move, or handle computers, radios, or electronic equipment.
  • Wash furniture to remove scuff marks and stains: clean desks, chairs, stands, bookcases, chalkboards, consoles with soap and water or commercial cleaner.
  • Dust ledges, counters, and other flat surfaces: remove dust, lint, and dry soil from ledges, counters, corners, vents, moldings, window ledges, frames, shop tables, shelves up to seven feet. Operated equipment not included.
  • Spot clean: remove smudges, fingerprints, marks, streaks from washable walls, partitions, doors, fixtures, light fixtures, elevator doors, panels. Use germicidal detergent in restrooms, locker rooms, break areas, drinking fountains. Polish doors, hardware, handrails with polishing compound. Surface uniform and streak‑free.
  • Clean and service restrooms:
    • Clean toilets, seats, urinals, wash basins and associated fixtures with commercial cleaner; disinfect. Deodorize toilets with solid cubes or acceptable deodorizer.
    • Floor wet or damp mop using mild disinfectant solution. Floor appearance uniform, no streaks or residues.
    • Wash walls and doors with non‑abrasive cleaner for clean, uniform appearance.
    • Clean and refill dispensers; stock paper towels, toilet tissue, soap.
    • Polish mirrors with liquid cleaner, wipe dry.
    • Clean shower stalls and locker/dressing rooms under restroom guidelines.
  • Floor maintenance:
    • Wet, machine, or damp mop hard floors. Maintain areas with carpet or special flooring. Sweep, dust mop, damp mop, dry buff, spray buff, strip, or wax as required for uniform glossy appearance and no stains.
    • Move chairs, desks, trash receptacles for maintenance. Return items to place. Wet floors signaled with safety signs. Do not mop wood floors.
    • Strip, seal, re‑wax floors: remove built‑up wax/finish, apply sealant, then wax/finish with non‑slip gloss to hard surfaces.
  • Vacuum carpet: after vacuuming, carpet free of dust, litter, lint, paper, soil. Spot clean as needed. Report carpet damage to facility manager.
  • Shampoo carpet: yearly commercial shampoo, free of soil, stains, spots. Coordinate with facility manager. Vacuum before shampooing. Water extraction method used.
  • Damp mop all stains and spills. Spot clean lobby areas and remove standing water.
