Seasonal Maintenance Worker
The City of Tukwila Public Works Department seeks Seasonal Maintenance Workers to perform outdoor maintenance of city infrastructure such as roads, sidewalks, and right‑of‑ways. Workers will operate trucks, flatbeds, and specialized heavy equipment, and respond to emergency situations including snow, flooding, and power outages.
Wage: $23.00 per hour Hours: 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 4‑10 schedule; may include weekends. This is a seasonal/temporary position capped at 1,040 hours per 12‑month period. Position does not include health benefits or retirement plans.
- Maintain and repair city infrastructure, including repairing road surfaces, shoulders, and installing pavement markings.
- Perform maintenance and safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems to identify needed repairs.
- Respond to inquiries and service requests such as marking potholes, graffiti, and right‑of‑way issues.
- Conduct site maintenance: apply pesticides, mow, trim, prune, remove, and plant vegetation; paint; perform litter control.
- Direct and control traffic: place cones and signs; flag traffic; close lanes and streets.
- Respond to emergency events: snow, ice, power outages, flooding.
Physical demands include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, and repetitive motions. The employee may need to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds regularly. Tasks often involve repetitive motions, grasping, hearing, seeing, and frequent lifting and pulling.
Minimum Qualifications- Must possess a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain one prior to employment.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision.
- Flagging certification card.
- CPR/First Aid card.
