Full Time - Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM
Pay Range: $23.15-$25.43 per hour

Position Type:
Non-exempt, unionized position represented by Local 8 of the Office of Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU)

Responsibilities
  • Perform and schedule routine janitorial and light maintenance of common areas, grounds, garbage removal, weeding, replacing locks and light bulbs, and minor carpentry and painting.
  • Respond to light maintenance or cleaning emergencies as needed.
  • Respond to shelter clients’ concerns and questions regarding the building’s cleanliness and report maintenance needs to the Special Projects Manager.
  • Inspect the building’s interior and exterior each workday for graffiti, damage, non‑working lighting, and any apparent safety hazards.
  • Assist the Special Projects Manager with site inspections, at turnover or as needed, helping to create work requests for maintenance needs.
  • Maintain basic cleaning and light maintenance supplies inventory.
  • Prepare units, including light maintenance, cleaning, painting, and coordinating vendor work for new intake of units in a timely manner.
  • Complete LIHI work orders for all non‑routine cleaning and grounds work. Use work requests to document all repair and non‑routine work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • One year building maintenance or janitorial experience.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Experience working with low‑income people.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must pass background and drug screening test.
