Job Summary
Ensure a quality environment for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington staff, patients and visitors by performing low‑level maintenance, routine safety and security surveillance, and cleaning areas and surfaces using approved disinfectants, equipment, and supplies.
Essential ResponsibilitiesCleans patient, staff, and public areas using the appropriate cleaning solutions and a 7‑step cleaning procedure that includes high dusting, trash removal, damp and dry wiping, floor mopping, bathroom cleaning, and final inspection.
Cleans corridors and public areas following a 4‑step cleaning procedure: dry mop, damp mop, spray buff, dry mop. Also moves furniture, equipment, and re‑arranges meeting rooms as needed.
Safely operates electric and battery‑powered cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, burnishes, auto‑scrubbers, and extractors. Handles trash, debris, and medical waste, including sharps container replacement and floor maintenance work such as scrubbing, stripping, refinishing, bonnet boiling, and carpet extraction.
Moves clean or soiled linen carts, performs discharge/transfer cleaning, and wears protective attire. Conducts routine surveillance of interior building spaces and takes appropriate actions to maintain safety and security, including locking doors and arming alarms. Performs additional duties such as snow removal, PA setup, clock adjustment, minor telephone repair, lamp replacement, nurse‑call station checks, pillow speaker replacement, electrical outlet checks, induction unit cleaning, thermostat adjustment, drain treatment, toilet clearing, and aerator repair.
Engages in low‑level maintenance tasks such as unplugging toilets and sinks, using chemical dilutions, labeling and storing medical waste, cleaning and storing equipment, and stocking supplies. Demonstrates initiative and compliance with Washington State Department of Health guidelines, OSHA WISHA regulations, and KAISER safety policies.

Communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. - Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year of custodial experience in an outpatient setting.
- High School Diploma or GED.
