Floor Care Custodian

The Building Operations Section in the King County's Facilities Management Division is looking for dependable Floor Care Custodians who will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the floors in King County buildings and any other place where applicable. We are looking for reliable floor care experts who have the ability to complete projects independently or in concert with team members.

Shift is Monday
- Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM. Qualified candidates must be available to work this shift. Location is Downtown Seattle.

This recruitment will be used to fill one current benefited Career Service vacancy and may be used to create an eligibility list of competitive candidates to fill future vacancies within the same classification, which may include Career Service, Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignment (SDA). BOS maintains approximately 3 million square feet in facilities where King County provides regional services, including the King County Courthouse and District Courts, Maleng Regional Justice Center, King County Administration Building, King County Animal Shelter, and several of Public Health facilities. Our facilities range in age from 8 to 100 years, with equipment such as boilers, chillers, DDC controls, ventilation fans, pumps and compressors, and fire/life/safety systems.

BOS provides custodial services, maintenance and building operations, building security and tenant improvement project work. Job duties include restoring various floors with specialized floor equipment, stripping and waxing floors with specialized floor equipment, steam cleaning and extracting carpets with specialized floor equipment, performing assigned maintenance to various floors utilizing specialized equipment, maintaining assigned equipment and tools, safely operating equipment and County-owned vehicles, and performing other custodial duties as assigned.

Experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills required include at least one year of demonstrated building maintenance, floorcare or custodial experience, demonstrated skill operating specialized floor equipment, demonstrated knowledge of basic janitorial cleaning techniques and standards, knowledge of basic cleaning chemicals and safety rules, ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and ability to communicate effectively, report concerns/issues in a timely manner.

This position is overtime eligible. Full-time positions work 40 hours per week. The shift we have available is Monday
- Friday 4:00 PM to 12:30 am. You must be available to work this shift. The central location for this position will be Downtown Seattle. This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union Local 925. This position will work in secure facilities, and it is required that you pass a thorough background check and physical examination prior to being hired.

This position has been designated Mission Critical in an Emergency, which means that you perform functions which cannot be delayed in the event of an emergency.
