Industrial Maintenance Program Specialist – South Plant & West Point (Multiple Locations, King County, WA) Job Summary

The West Section Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Reliability Team is a performance-driven group dedicated to building the skills, confidence, and expertise to schedule and plan comprehensive work packages for O&M teams.
In this role you will plan and schedule short-term and strategic objectives for one of the region’s most complex wastewater treatment systems.
The Role
This position requires a strong background in mechanical maintenance practices and focuses on job/event level planning and coordination tasks associated with equipment and process/system maintenance. Additional duties include performing advanced level maintenance planning and scheduling to assist section and division management in developing, planning, implementing, and administering a comprehensive predictive and preventative maintenance program for industrial equipment and systems in a wastewater treatment plant.
Job Duties- Perform/assist with job scope assessments and develop work plans (including materials, support staff/services, and equipment) and coordinate with O&M staff and plant system availability to schedule work.
- Research and develop equipment repair procedures, identify standard repair parts and tools, evaluate current inventory, and adjust levels to ensure correct parts are available.
- Assist in developing and planning a predictive and preventative maintenance program, implementing policies and procedures, and working with management and supervisory staff to determine work priorities and business needs during work order schedule implementation.
- Plan, schedule, and determine work order assignments (annual, monthly, weekly, and/or daily) using automated maintenance information reporting systems; analyze work orders and prepare scope, parts, materials, labor, and supply requirements; coordinate material requirements with stores for job initiation; ensure documentation accurately reflects work performed.
- Oversee and evaluate maintenance backlogs, determine scheduling changes, prioritize backlog work, and communicate changes with supervisory staff.
- Use the automated maintenance information reporting system to provide regular reports to management; analyze cost data and work with staff to improve work production and equipment life expectancy.
- Identify and coordinate external vendor or contractor maintenance work with operations and maintenance staff.
- Conduct or coordinate regular maintenance planning and scheduling meetings to monitor progress and adjust plans and schedules.
- Participate in the annual budget process by estimating costs of materials, parts, and labor needed for predictive and preventative maintenance work.
- Coordinate with engineering staff on life cycle analysis reports for plant equipment and supporting systems.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to predictive and preventative maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Perform electrical & mechanical job planning and scoping, including repair parts review and work packaging organization.
- Perform asset validation using the mobile electronic database update program (Maximo AM Module).
- Knowledge of skilled trades and demonstrated experience as a journey-level worker or knowledge of multi-trade scopes of work and experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent maintenance management program.
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance techniques and principles in an industrial environment and demonstrated skill in applying these principles.
- Knowledge and demonstrated skill in understanding labor, materials, costs, and skill requirements for maintenance work orders performed by skilled trades.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with predictive methods such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, and ultrasound.
