Custodian

Position: Custodian - Hourly
The following list of major duties and responsibilities does not necessarily represent any onejob. It is the compilation of the diversity of job duties fulfilled by many people who have ajob title similar to that of Custodian. It is not an expectation that any one person necessarily fulfills all of these duties. It is also recognized that there may be elements of a job which arenot included in this checklist.

Parishes are encouraged to create individual job descriptions,using this checklist as a normative guideline in this effort.

I. POSITION PURPOSEA. Provides cleaning and light maintenance for the parish buildings and grounds.

II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESA. Assures the church (St. Edward, St. George, St. Paul, St. Peter, school and other parish buildings are maintained in a clean and orderly manner including dust mopping and/or vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, and washing windows.

B. Maintains wood furnishings which require oiling and maintenance.

C. Assures the parish grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner including mowing, watering and edging lawns, blowing walkways, weeding, pruning and rakingon a seasonal basis.

D. Maintains playground in a safe and clean manner.

E. Performs minor maintenance on the Parish Halls, Meeting Spaces, Offices and church including light carpentry work and minor repair work on the facilities as needed.

F. Provides other general assistance as needed through setting up the chairs, tables inthe parish and school facilities as requested, hauling moving items and picking upparts or other equipment as requested by staff.

G. Assures the collection and disposal of garbage.

H. Serves as a member of the Parish Safety Committee.

I. Maintains an inventory of supplies for lighting and cleaning and orders supplies as requested.

J. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required to function as a Custodian. This is accomplished through reading appropriate materials and attending appropriate workshops or participating in other training opportunitiesk. Supports special projects once a week - examples include fixing pew's kneelers, supporting Facilities director on building maintenance projects, moving offices or spacesl. Working holidays or weekends may be required on occasionsm.

Performs occasional deep cleaning as needed (includes waxing of floors, carpet cleaning for example)- Able to lift 25lbs
- Able to climb a ladder-has experience with custodial work at an organizations-Can work independently and track worksheet for multiple parishes on completed work-Has ability to travel between four different parishes

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
