MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs preventative maintenance and equipment testing for buildings and grounds to assure that plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating, air conditioning, ventilation systems and pumps, motors and engines are properly maintained and to minimize issues or failures.
Identify and diagnose repair needs of the facilities, including buildings, equipment and parish owned vehicles. Perform minor plumbing, electrical and heating repairs such as resolving water leaks, unclogging drains, replacing fixtures, ballasts, switches, outlets, heating air filters and belts. Escalate major repairs or system failures to the Director of Facilities.
Manage carpentry needs of the campuses, including repairing doors, locks, drywall and painting surfaces.
Monitor HVAC systems across the campuses to ensure optimal climate control and energy efficiency.
Perform routine checks on large boiler systems located at two campus buildings.
Inspect safety equipment monthly, including fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and emergency lighting.
Maintain exterior grounds during emergencies, including clear walkways and hazard mitigation.
Respond promptly to work order requests maintained in the asset management system.
Manage inventory of tools, spare parts and maintenance supplies at the campuses.
Provides necessary facilities-related support to all parish programs and special events.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS Assists with maintaining key systems for the campuses, including key forms and related records.
Fill in for custodian if needed.
Available on-call for emergencies
Performs other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience in commercial facilities maintenance with general knowledge of basic building maintenance, HVAC and mechanical functions including boilers, general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and custodial skills.
Grade IV boiler license preferred
Working knowledge of computers and proficiency in software programs, including Microsoft Office applications, database systems and use of the internet.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate with other staff and volunteers on facility needs and uses.
Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to travel between campuses and possess a valid driver’s license
To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must have complete mobility and able to:
Lift, push pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds
Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds
Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists
Proficiency with hand tools and motorized maintenance equipment
Climb ladders safely and without limitation, and able to work at heights exceeding 20 feet Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
